Gathering of the Association des familles Demers Inc.
Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Maison St-Gabriel.
The “Association des familles Demers Inc.” invites you to join us for a visit of the “Maison St-Gabriel”, a national historic site, in Montreal. The two brothers, Andre and Jean, were momentarily their neighbors.
However, we are restricted to 60 participants. Those among you, who have already expressed their interest in a poll on Facebook and email, will have priority. We ask you to register as soon as possible (before June 15) to confirm your reservation. Additional information and possible transport by bus from the St-Lambert train station will be communicated to participants in due course.
Program of the day
09h30 Welcome and registration of participants using the bus transport at the St-Lambert train station parking lot.
10h30 Welcome at the “Maison St-Gabriel”
11h00 to noon Group A: Guided tour of the Museum
Group B: Individual Exploration of the site
12h00 to 13h00 Group A: Lunch at the restaurant “Le Réfectoire” with historical comments
Group B: Guided tour of the Museum
13h30 to 14h45 Group B: Lunch at the restaurant “Le Réfectoire” with historical comments
After the Museum visit and lunch for both groups:
* Visit of the temporary exhibits: “Lift the veil, Exceptional Women 1642-2017”
* Tribute to female religious communities in Montreal
* Visit of the wooded area - Poetry trail and Souvenir Shop
* Guided tour of the Garden of the Origins inaugurated on May 24, 2017 for
Montreal’s 375th anniversary
16h00 Planting ceremony of a native tree in the garden of the “Métayères” to commemorate our visit (the list of participants will be included in the planting ceremony)
16h45 Short walk to the nearby YMCA.
17h00 to 19h00 Cocktail from 5 to 7 and exchange between participants
19h00 End of the meeting and return by bus to St-Lambert for those who will come by this means of transport.
